Now that I've done that, here's my mom's xmas scarf! YOu should all know that I'm VERY pleased with myself as this project is:

a) the first somewhat intricate lace project I've done
b)Nearly halfway done after only 1 1/2 days
c) The coolest thing I've knit...and with no unfixable mistakes (YET)

I finished the Pithy Hat too, but I need to set the dye with vinegar water (the green rubbed off on my hands a little, and although I don't think this is neccessarily common with Manos yarn, it's been known to happen), and I need to block it also. I sort of want to kick myself a little because the cast on edge is too tight...just slightly. I'm hoping blocking with help.

Going to Uniquities today to get another ball of Karabella Aurora 8 yarn to finish the above scarf...I hope the different dye lots are ok together, as I need to make it long and I want to add fringe. Also getting some other yarn from Uniquities...but the project is a SECRET. And I need yarn to make the Endpaper Mitts for my friend Katie...well, a contrasting color of yarn. I'm going to drag Blake with me to Vienna so he can see the glorious Uniquities. Let's just hope I can get out of the office in time to go....

So, you guys like my new widgets? I decided to add my Shelfari and Netflix info with all of you, and you should do the same on your blogs!

Oh yeah...and the sixth HP movie isn't coming out until July 2009. I am so pissed about it. I mean, WHAT THE HELL GUYS.

Bai dorkz,

Cecilia

  1. The scarf is beautiful! Any mom would LOVE it.

The Netflix thing and the Shelf thingie are really fun, too. I'm always interested new books, the other thing I spend WAAAAYYY too much money on.

  2. I love knitting, but I am fairly new at it. Why did you do this on a circular? I would think since it is a scarf it would go on straight needles. But I am new so what do I know! I am also very impressed by all that you have knitted from your list! Maybe someday I will get there. So far a bunch of simple stuff. I want to try a sweater or cable or something a little more difficult then stockinette or knitting every row!

  3. It actually is knit on a straight needle, it just looks like a circ because I use the
    Denise Interchangeable Needles
. They can be converted from circs to straights really easily (there's just an extra attachment) and it come with needle tip sizes 5-15. They have saved me so much money, and I highly recommend them.

You'll get to the harder stuff. And don't be intimidated by lace, cables, or colorwork. It's a lot less scary than you think!
